Thanksgiving has come and gone, but don’t let your gratitude disappear with the last of the leftovers. If you have the following employees on your team, you should be incredibly thankful!

So don’t forget to let them know just how much you appreciate them.

  1. Optimists. Even on Mondays, these employees arrive at work cheerful and energized. They look at challenges as opportunities to excel rather than difficulties to complain about. They’re invaluable because their positive attitudes spread to other team members, raising the morale of the whole group.
  2. Questioners. Sure, there have been moments when you’ve wished these devil’s advocates and skeptics would keep their opinions to themselves. But how many times have they saved your team from making a bad decision? You’re indebted to their inquisitive minds.
  3. Team players. These employees are great at their jobs, but if something unusual comes up, they are willing and able to step in and help out. “That’s not my job” would never escape their lips or cross their minds. They’re willing to do what it takes—even when it’s unfamiliar, a little unpleasant or “beneath” their skillset—to help the organization succeed.
  4. Students. I’m not referring to actual students, but rather to employees who embrace learning. They recognize that no matter how good they are at their jobs, they can still improve. They read books and articles relevant to your industry, happily attend training sessions and—what’s best—share their new knowledge with the rest of the group.
  5. Techies. These people have worked magic for you. They recovered that critical document you thought for sure you’d deleted. They streamlined work for the whole team, automating tasks and introducing you to more efficient software and shortcuts.

What other employees are you grateful for?
