Tonight, people, perhaps you, will be partying all evening … lifting a glass at midnight … kissing a person nearby … watching the ball drop … and celebrating well into the wee hours.

Whatever your night has in store, make the most of your New Year’s Eve day by following these suggestions. Admittedly, some are silly, but others are serious. Some will take a minute; others will take all day. Some are for you to do alone, while others are meant for a group. Some could very well change your year, and your life. All will make a difference in your day.

Here’s the list:

  1. Play a game.
  2. Talk about your goals and dreams.
  3. Dance! (alone or with someone)
  4. Write (or add to) your bucket list.
  5. Cross something off your bucket list.
  6. Call an old friend.
  7. Call an old enemy.
  8. Take a picture. Put it on Facebook.
  9. Send messages or emails to friends you don’t talk to often enough.
  10. Share a favorite poem with a friend.
  11. Start a journal.
  12. Sing your favorite song.
  13. Find out the favorite song of a friend.
  14. Learn a new game.
  15. Make a positive play list.
  16. Watch your favorite movie.
  17. Describe what your life will look like a year from now.
  18. Cook a meal with family.
  19. Draw a picture of your goals.
  20. Read a book you’ve always wanted to read.
  21. Help a neighbor.
  22. Help a stranger.
  23. Turn off the TV.
  24. Turn off your computer.
  25. Do ten jumping jacks (it’s a start).
  26. Rejoice!
  27. Laugh.
  28. Apologize.
  29. Forgive.
  30. Forget.
  31. Spend some quiet time with your dreams and goals for the New Year.
  32. Reflect on your best days of the past year.
  33. Make a memory.

Just pick one (or more) to do today. Then pick another the day after and another the following day. You’ll make each day a little brighter, a little more positive. And that will make you a better leader.

Above all else, Happy New Year! May this year bring you good fortune!
