Who We Are

First the workshop…

For over 25 years, we have been helping leaders and organizations to realize their true leadership potential. And as we lead workshops and consult with Clients, we often have the opportunity to ask new leaders about their concerns, struggles and frustrations. And we kept hearing the same frustrations over and over again – change management, communication, coaching…the list goes on. Those who were transitioning to a new leadership role were struggling and organizations were frustrated with the ineffective leadership skills of these same new and front-line leaders.

The most challenging leadership experience anyone will face isn’t the one at the top but the first promotion to a leadership position. And these new leaders needed a road map to be successful.

So, the Bud to Boss workshop was born. We built the workshop building on the concepts, principles and competencies from Kevin’s earlier book, Remarkable Leadership: Unleashing Your Leadership Potential One Skill at a Time. And while we built the program from the perspective of leaders who were just joining the ranks of supervision and leadership, the principles apply regardless of the years of experience.

Then the book…

After several years of helping hundreds of leaders and organizations, we had learned a lot and decided it was time to write the book on it. From Bud to Boss incorporates what we have learned from teaching new supervisors, including the questions they have asked us, into each chapter.

What Makes Bud to Boss Different?

Every Bud to Boss tool that we have created is built around one of our guiding principles: Training is an event, learning is a process.

We believe that real useful learning comes from a continual process of doing, trying, experiencing and applying. We will only ever see the results we desire when we consider the “event” a spark for, rather than the completion of, the learning.

So whether you choose to learn from one of our workshops or bring us in-house or certify trainers or even purchase copies of the book for all of your new leaders – every learning option that we provide incorporates ways to continually use and apply the ideas that you learn to help make them a part of who you are as a leader in the real world.

Our Founders

Bud to Boss was created by merging the world-class leadership thinking and skill development of Kevin Eikenberry and Guy Harris. Together, with their unique experiences and knowledge, they have created a place to help new or front-line leaders overcome self-doubt and frustration and quickly develop skills and confidence to become the leaders they want to be.
